BHUBANESWAR: The state government on Friday announced financial assistance of Rs 5 crore for relief and rehabilitation work in Tamil Nadu battered by incessant rains.

Announcing it in the assembly, parliamentary affairs minister Bikram Keshari Arukh said five teams of Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF) are ready to move to Tamil Nadu for expediting the relief and rescue operations.

“If the Tamil Nadu government would ask for the teams, we would send them immediately,” he added.

Earlier, Naveen spoke to his Tamil Nadu counterpart J Jayalalithaa and offered support in the relief and rescue operations.
